Michael Graef

Who are you and what did you do?

My name is Michael Graef, and I’m a Missoula based videographer and photographer. My creative time is spent directing music videos, shooting concerts, and working in Montana tourism & outdoor media.

How is your workspace set up?

The nature of my type of work makes my workspace completely mobile. So much of my work is done in the field & on the go. For mobile work, I use a laptop + a stack of hard drives!

What does your typical day look like?

After waking up, I usually make coffee and fire back on email/DM’s. From there, it’s either time to sit down to edit video, or pack up the camera and gear bags and get ready to shoot! When I’m not working, I try to keep a healthy balance of hiking, sleeping, and beer with friends.

What hardware do you use to make your content?

In general, the following list contains the hardware I most often use to make content:

The camera bodies I use are Canon 1dxii, Blackmagic 6K, Gh5, all with Canon lenses. Other gear I tend to use include Ronin-S & Ronin-M gimbal, DJI Mavic, Tripods, Lights, and Fog Machines.

What software?

Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
